Flash Video Chat ProblemExpand / Collapse

I have been trying to figure out why my internet browser seizes up when I enter video chat. I have the latest Flash downloaded, I have JavaScript enabled. I got in and was able to use it once, and now it's back to freezing my browser again. Once it's frozen, I can't even exit the browser, unless I shut off or restart my computer.

Any suggestions? I defragged my hard drive, memory seems fine, nothing seems to be giving me any trouble, except this.

Thanks in advance.

Do you know what your resolution is set to?

Is your computer over 3-4 years old?

I've seen this happen with older computers with smaller monitors set with low resolutions. The newer flash is a memory hog so if you have an older computer running lots of programs or background programs that could be it.

I am working on updating the chat rooms (although slowly at this point due to r/t work) with individual web cams that'll replace the flash chat. It'll be integrated with our main HTML based chat and should resolve these types of issues.

Have you tried to use the Voice/Video Message feature in pager and forum messages? You don't have to actually send anything but see if you can use it if you have a web cam to record a message. That flash app is very lightweight and an example of something I developed rather than the flash chat (which I purchased most of the code).

It's an older computer, so I'd bet the memory is the problem. The monitor is a 19-inch flat screen LCD, resolution is pretty high.

It was weird though - i got it to work one night, and that was it.

Thanks for all your suggestions.
