How much should humanity be allowed to do a little self-indulging in? After all, it seems most of only remember this life up until senility.

And, on a side note:

How much should people be allowed to indulge in self-pity when something horrible happens, if any?

People should be allowed all the self-indulgence they want as long as they are willing to accept the consequences of their actions. No Whining. *S*

It is all self indulgence, as whatever decision or action we take, we have indulged ourselves to that. No matter what a person does, whether forced or by personal belief, as individuals, we are self indulgent. We react to what affects us or we percieve to affect us.

skywatcher: At any point in time, should people not be allowed to be indulgent? Like with my previously stated question, self-pity? Or murder? Preemptive actions would, in some circumstances, be a much more protective and all around happier matter, shouldn't they?

Chang: Certainly it's not all self-indulgence, is it? Survival instincts, basic life choices, or specific actions are something more or less than a whim or desire, right?

well, one point of view I've heard is
each individual's freedom ends
where the next guys begins.

yes, pragmatically,
there should be limits to self-indulgence.
(rape, murder, etc.) should not be allowed.
