even though it won several Oscars, most I talk to have not familiar with this movie because it is a foreign film shot in Spanish with English subtitles. do not let the subtitles scare you off renting it. It is an excellently made movie, stunning visuals and a very intriguing story ("an adult fairy tale"). The movie does have scenes of violence and is not for kids despite being a fable. I'm curious how many others have already seen it and what they have thought about it.

.a.love.affair.with.a.foreinger.

While I was in Montreal, Canada I went to see this with my fiance at it's premier. Even though it was in Spanish and you had to read English subtitles, the movie was really well made and was an excellent watch. Yes I would have prefered the movie to be either dubbed in English or just in English, because of the fact I'm a visual person who likes to look around the screen picking out various things. With subtitles you cant do this. But after awhile you dont notice them because you're so sucked into the story. And the Spanish did give it a very, I dont know what you would call it but it gave it it's own uniqueness.

.applause.and.cheers.

I'd suggest everyone to hire this movie out. Seeing it on the big screen was an experience and I'm glad I did see it at the movies, but don't be discouraged, hire it out.

This movie wasn't quite what I expected it would be (subtitles, general feeling of the movie) But it was very good nonetheless. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and would consider buying it. You really get sucked into the story, and if your a fast reader, like myself, you hardly even notice the subtitles after the first few minutes. I found myself getting quite emotionally involved in the story, especially with all the horrible things the "father" does to everyone around him. (trying not to give away any of the story)
